The Journey

All your games are on ships, making their way to you. When they arrive at port and clear customs, they will be picked up by the relevant fulfilment companies, who will begin packing orders and sending them out to all of you. You should be notified when your order is packed and due for delivery. We have very little control over the speed of the packing and sending of orders, but the following shows the rough timelines for when deliveries should begin from our global hubs:

Australia - Deliveries should begin later this month

Canada - Deliveries should begin early July

USA - Deliveries should begin mid-July

UK - Deliveries should begin mid-July

EU - Deliveries should begin mid-July

Rest of the World - Deliveries should begin in July

Addresses will be locked very soon, so please update your address in BackerKit as soon as possible if needed. If you have any issues, please contact [email protected]

UKGE

What a weekend we had at the end of May! So many of you came to say hello, book a demo and win yourself some goodies. We loved meeting you all and hearing your enthusiasm for Fame and Fable (and the excitement for the new game, Mariners). Here are a few select shots from the weekend:

Danny did a fabulous job teaching Fame and Fable for me over the weekend. Thank you!

And a massive thank you Chris and Matt who joined me on the stand over the weekend too.

I caught a glimpse of the beautiful Personal Demons, the exciting new title by Tettix Games (of Deep Regrets fame), which is coming to Kickstarter later this year:

And I spied SHUG in the wild during a brief moment of calm before the chaos (more about SHUG at the end of this update).

Dressed in Dodo

For those of you who have visited us at either Paradice or UK Games Expo, you will have seen the Owen Davey Games crew dressed in our new staff shirts, screen-printed by Hello Dodo, a local (to us) family business who make 100% organic cotton t-shirts using non-toxic inks. If you walked away with a tote bag from UKGE, this was also printed by the Dodos, so a huge shout-out to them for their awesome work.

Go check out their site for some colourful, pun-based, ethically-produced clothing.

SHUG! SHUG! SHUG!

SHUG is a cross between party game and dungeon crawler. The self-dubbed Shug Brothers and I have crossed paths many times over the past few years at different expos and they are lovely, supportive humans who are immensely talented. SHUG is live on Kickstarter now and I'm delighted to see how well the campaign is doing. The game is fun, ridiculous, chaotic, and really weird—it also won the UK Games Expo prize for Best Party Game (before being stripped of the title 10 minutes later for not being released in retail yet). Steeped in its own colourful and bizarre folklore (dubbed Shuglore) and a surprising amount of sandwiches, this is definitely one to check out!

You can even watch the delightful No Rolls Barred crew sit down for a playthrough if you fancy seeing how it plays.

Bye!

April Update | Schedule | Free Stuff at UK Games Expo |
about 2 months ago – Fri, May 01, 2026 at 11:04:20 AM

And We're Off!

The games are ready at the factory and are in the process of making their way to freight ships bound for hubs around the world. Shipping is a slow mode of transport, so they will likely be on the ocean for a couple of months for most backers. When the ships reach their destination and make it to the warehouses of fulfilment partners, it will likely take another couple of weeks for them to check your orders, pack up your games and get them sent out to you. Fulfilment should begin in July, and we hope to have the vast majority of games delivered by September!

During that time, you can update your address by going to your account in the BackerKit Pledge Manager. Here is an article explaining that process if you're not sure how to do it. If you haven't filled in the Pledge Manager, please do so as soon as possible, or we will not be able to deliver your game to you.

As always, if you have any issues with your order, please reach out to [email protected]

Free Stuff at UK Games Expo

Owen Davey Games will be at Stand 3-962 at UK Games Expofrom the 29th to the 31st of May, and if you come to say hello, you might walk away with some fun free stuff. There is a limited number of these things, so make sure you come by as early as you can to avoid disappointment. We will require proof of purchase of the game.

We will be running a booking system for all demos. If you're keen to table Fame and Fable and try out our fabulous new space game, Mariners, visit us early to ensure you bag a slot for that day.

Questiny has such a gorgeous, nostalgic feel. I love a co-op, and this dungeon-crawler delves into the genre with fun at its centre—potions, loot, legendary weapons, rotating labyrinth tiles, tense dice rolls, devilish enemies and swinging axes!

Questiny is steeped in handmade watercolour artworks from Flintica and it's clear that bringing this game to life has been a labour of love for all involved. I've hung out with Leon at several board game events over the past few years and it's super exciting to hear that Questiny will soon go live on Kickstarter! I'm going to be first in the queue to get my copy.

March Update | Unboxing MPC | UK Games Expo
3 months ago – Tue, Apr 07, 2026 at 08:10:32 AM

I have been waiting for mass production copies (MPCs) of the game for a good while now, and they were finally delivered! This is a BIG DEAL—MPCs aren't prototypes or digital test prints or anything like that—they're the real components, printed, constructed and packed exactly how all yours will be. So opening the MPCs was basically a recreation of exactly what all of you will see when you open up your parcels!

I'm so proud of these games! They have come out great (the cards look especially sublime). I thought some of you might like to watch me unbox them, so here's the full YouTube video of just that:

The MPCs have all been approved, so the factory is now in the final stages of assembly. Once they're all complete, your games should ship out this month! In the next update, I will provide more information and projected timelines for when those shipments will get to where they're going!

UK Games Expo

Owen Davey Games will be on the road again at the end of May in Birmingham, for my favourite games convention, UK Games Expo! Three days of tabletop-based nerdery and a whole heap of wonderful humans piling into some intimidatingly huge warehouses. We will be sharing Stand 3-962 with the wonderful folk of Split Stone Games, and they have a phenomenal new game called STAG, so make sure you check that out.

I will be there, demoing the final version of Fame and Fable and our new title, Mariners, which I'm really excited to share with you all—come say hey.

Playtime

I was recently lucky enough to play a prototype version of Fetching Feathers by Chris Priscott, the designer of Moving Wild (formerly Zuuli). This new game uses simultaneous closed drafting for players to add to their hands before passing the remaining cards to the next player. It is set-collection gaming at its finest and is a really clever, succinct, and satisfying little puzzly card game—there's even a really cool mechanic involving changing seasons.

Fetching Feather is now available for late pledge, so check it out if this sounds like it's up your alley. Plus, you know ... birds wearing hats! What's not to love?! Talking of the artwork, they were created by Faizul Mudhakir.

See you in the next update!

February Update
3 months ago – Tue, Mar 10, 2026 at 03:50:06 AM

There are no major updates this month, but this is a round-up of our February...

Paradice

We had a fabulous time at Paradice last weekend, and thanks to everyone who came and said hello. I demoed Fame and Fable, and, as always, it was great to see those games unfold.

Mariners

We also had the chance to share a handmade prototype of our new game, Mariners. It was awesome to watch so many of you enjoying it. For those who asked about the Kickstarter for Mariners, here is a link to the pre-launch page—it looks very bare-bones at the moment, and the actual campaign won't go live until later this year, but if you click the 'Notify me on launch' button, it will help you keep track of its progress. Here are a couple of shots of it hitting the table at the weekend:

Fame and Fable Production Schedule

I don't have a lot to tell you here. I am still waiting for the mass-production samples from the factory. They have now told me I will receive these at the end of March. I do not yet have a solid date for when the games will be ready to ship, but it looks like this will be toward the end of April. Unfortunately, this is all completely out of my control. As always, I will keep you updated as things develop.

In the meantime, if you need to change your delivery address, you can do so in BackerKit. If you have any issues with this or any part of your order, [email protected] is standing by, ready to help.

What is on My Gaming Table?

First up is a lightweight party game that is as much about getting to know the other players as anything else. The lovely folk at Gamely Games have just launched their first Kickstarter in a decade, The Curator. This is a really fun experience which forces you to be creative using beautiful photos to convey human experiences—along the lines of games like Dixit or Mysterium. I managed to snag the coveted title of backer #1 for this, so come and join the party.

Secondly, we have the considerably heftier The Old King's Crown by Eerie Idol Games, which now has a second printing live on Gamefound, along with the New Songs of Home Expansion and a particularly intriguing in-world mini game called Annulet. The original game is an absolute beauty and a real love letter to illustration and board game production. Ostensibly, this is a trick-taking game about bluffing and battle lines, but that really doesn't do it justice. It has been lauded with acclaim from all angles, including swathes of love being pelted at it from folks like The Dice Tower and Shut Up and Sit Down. No wonder it sold out everywhere!

See you in the next update!

January Update | Mass Production | Another Bag Upgrade | Schedule Update | Paradice
4 months ago – Sun, Feb 08, 2026 at 09:36:01 AM

Mass Production

Fame and Fable is being made as we speak—cards and rulebooks are being printed and trimmed, boxes assembled, and player tokens cut, painted and screen printed. We had two more attempts at getting all the colours right before I was happy to sign them off, but the factory is now busy getting everything created to its usual high standards.

One thing that became clear from the prototypes was some inconsistency issues with screen printing onto the lovely textured bags. Sometimes they came out great, but sometimes there were areas of poor coverage or smudged paint. This isn't an issue with the factory, but the combination of materials and the nature of mass manufacturing. I didn't want to settle for blank bags or provide you all with something so variable, so I am upgrading your bags yet again to a new embroidered finish! These look and feel really lovely and I'm super excited for all you Legend-tier backers to get your hands on them. Here's a photo of how these beauties are looking.

Production Schedule

I am now at the mercy of the factory with the timeline, but there's no chance they'll get the games out before Chinese New Year. I do not regret this (my goal has always been to prioritise quality over speed), but I do apologise for the delay. We hope to ship an example of mass production copies out to the language partners (and me) before Chinese New Year so that those approvals can happen while the factory is closed. When the factory reopens at the start of March, assembly of all your games should then only take a few weeks.

When I have a clear idea of how these small delays may affect the overall schedules for fulfilment to backers in the different territories, I will let you all know, so please keep an eye on these updates.

Paradice

In exciting news, Owen Davey Games will be at Paradice in Worthing again this year. This is my hometown games convention and the third time I'll be exhibiting there. I'm delighted to share that we'll be demoing a brand new game called 'Mariners', which I will be crowdfunding in the near future, after you have your copies of Fame and Fable.

Fame and Fable will, of course, also be there to show to people—I should have a couple of properly manufactured copies by then, so that you can play a real version of the final game, rather than just a prototype. Fame and Fable will not be available for sale or for collection at this event. If any of you are making a special trip for Paradice, please do reach out to me to book a demo of either game by emailing me at [email protected]

What is on My Gaming Table?

If you often play two-player games and you're looking for something that is beautifully made, cosy and a bit thinky, Flamecraft Duals by Cardboard Alchemy is brilliant, in my opinion. I backed this one on Kickstarter and they have done a wonderful job on the production. Just look at that gorgeous artwork by Sandara Tang!

Each turn, you take a token from a bag and place it on a board. You're trying to match the tokens on the board to your hidden cards. Each token you place has a special power, which can affect other tokens on the board. This is not a game of long-term strategy, but is a reactive gem, which allows for some satisfying chain effects that let you score multiple cards on a single turn. If you've had the chance to play Harmonies, it's a bit like that, but with dragons (each with their own superpowers). I've loved it, and I'm looking forward to trying it out solo too.

Bye!

See you in the next update!
